We have worked really hard to create our brand new outdoor rabbit and guinea pig enclosures here at Hillcrest Petcare, and I am now able to share some photos with you.  The enclosures, which replaced our existing infrastructure, are ready and are already being used.

 

The new walk-in enclosures have been carefully designed with both comfort and welfare in mind, giving rabbits and guinea pigs plenty of safe space to explore, relax and enjoy their stay.  Each enclosure measures approximately 1.8 metres by 1.9 metres and are around 1.8 metres high, creating a spacious and secure environment with a covered roof area for shelter and protection from the weather.

 

Inside each enclosure is a large single-storey fully insulated sleeping hutch running the width of the enclosure and raised around one metre off the ground. This means pets will still have full use of the space underneath, with ramps or steps allowing them to come and go freely whenever they choose.  The enclosures have concrete bases covered in rubber flooring for safety and cleanliness, along with hides and enrichment areas to encourage natural behaviours and provide lots of fun and stimulation.  We have created cooling areas with ceramic tiles, and also have safe fans too.   

 

Creating a calm, homely and enriching environment for every animal in our care is so important to me, and these new enclosures are being built with so much thought, love and attention to detail.
